Frequently Asked Hypnotherapy Questions

Will I lose control?

You are always in control and cannot be made to do or say anything you do not want to.

Am I unconscious or asleep when I am hypnotised?

You are not unconscious or asleep. You are aware of everything being said to you. You can still see, hear, feel, smell, taste and speak. Generally you remember what I have said to you.

What will being hypnotised feel like?

There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling; being in a trance is just a natural, normal state of mind (the state between conscious awareness and sleep). Some people feel the same as normal, while others feel more relaxed and refreshed.

What happens in a session?

The initial consultation session is 1 hour – we talk about what you want to address in the session(s), including taking a detailed history, discussing your goals of therapy, how hypnotherapy works and how it can help you. If time permits you will be lead into an hypnotic trance.

Following sessions are 1 hour long and tailored to your individual needs. Various techniques can be used to allow you to relax and work towards you goals, by positively communicating with your subconscious mind. You may be given additional tools and skills to address your needs.
